Shane built a 3,000-review advantage by making review collection part of daily operations. Here's how to build a similar system in 30 days.
Step 1: Establish Your Baseline (Days 1–3)
Search Google for your three most important services. Record the review counts, ratings, and local rankings of your five biggest competitors.
Calculate how many jobs you complete monthly and set a review target. For example, 200 completed jobs at a 25% review conversion rate means 50 new reviews.
Step 2: Build the Review Process (Days 4–7)
Add these actions to your job completion checklist:
- Have technicians ask every satisfied customer for an honest review.
- Text a direct Google review link before leaving the property.
- Set an automatic reminder to follow up once after 48 hours.
Assign one person to monitor requests and follow-ups daily.
Step 3: Create Accountability (Days 8–14)
Build a simple weekly scorecard tracking completed jobs, requests sent, and reviews received.
Set a goal of requesting reviews on 100% of eligible completed jobs. Review results every Monday and coach technicians who are missing requests.
Step 4: Optimize Your Google Business Profile (Days 15–21)
Audit your business categories, hours, service areas, and contact information. Upload five recent job photos and respond to outstanding reviews.
Assign someone to add new photos and respond to reviews every week.
Step 5: Measure and Improve (Days 22–30)
Compare your review count, rating, local rankings, calls, and booked jobs against Day 1.
Calculate your review conversion rate, identify missed requests, and adjust your process. Set next month's target based on actual results.
My advice: Make this a permanent operating procedure. Shane's 3,000 reviews took years to accumulate, creating an advantage competitors can't easily replicate.
